Once you file, they give you a court date. You then have to have the other person &#039;served&#039; with divorce papers.

You turn up to court on the day.........the registrar asks you a few questions, and then your divorce will be final in one month and one day from the day you went to court.</description>

		<description>If they are married for less than 2 years, they have to obtain compulsory counselling, plus be separated for 12 months before a divorce will be granted.  Either way, you can&#039;t avoid the 12 month separation period.

It&#039;s not even necessary to see a solicitor if you don&#039;t want to.  Just be nice, divide everything in half, and file it with the family court.  You don&#039;t even need to show up at court.</description>
